Portland, Oregon

Three footwear lifers, one missing shoe.

Between them they had spent careers at Nike, adidas, Columbia, KEEN and Teva, and they still could not find a recovery shoe that did what they needed. So they built one.

What the name means

VELOUS. From velocity.

Training and competing are about velocity. But the part that decides whether you get to do it again tomorrow is what happens after you stop.

Recovery and movement are an essential part of every athlete's training cycle, not an optional extra at the end of it. That is the whole idea in the name.

VELOUS. Rhymes with jealous. Recovery in Motion.
The founders

Who actually built it.

Not a marketing team with a foam supplier. Three people who have designed, engineered and sold footwear for a living, for a long time.

Our concept

Two years before we sold a single pair.

As athletes ourselves, we had learned that your feet need more than just super squishy foam to recover. They need a stable platform, real arch support, and flexibility where the foot flexes.

So we spent two years developing and testing, working with Dr. Timothy Mineo, DPM - a podiatrist, foot and ankle surgeon and competitive cyclist - until the three zones did what we wanted across the whole foot strike. That became patent-pending Tri-Motion Technology.

How Tri-Motion works

Designed in Portland

Designed and developed in Portland, Oregon, then made in a partner factory using globally sourced materials.

REthink

Our closed-toe platform is built on sugarcane-based bio-foam and recycled materials. Wherever possible we use recycled material in our packaging too.

All of our sandals meet the American Podiatric Medical Association's rigorous standards.
